How to cut a Kazakh-language podcast into clips: from the recording to finished shorts
Who this is for
You have recorded a podcast, an interview or a stream in Kazakh — entirely, or mixed with Russian the way people actually speak. An hour of it sits on a disk, and what you need in the feed are short vertical clips. Cutting them by hand is an evening of work per episode.
What follows is step by step, with no promises you cannot verify.
Step 1. What the recording needs to be
A horizontal 16:9 recording, Full HD or better, with sound. A link or a file — both work.
Three things matter more than resolution:
- clean audio. Cutting starts with speech recognition: where a word is not heard, there is neither a subtitle nor an accurate clip boundary. A lapel mic on each speaker buys more than any camera;
- one conversation, not an edit. Recordings that are already cut with inserts and B-roll yield worse clips: meaning breaks where someone else's edit joined the pieces;
- length, from several minutes up. A three-minute video yields almost nothing — there is simply nothing to choose from.
Step 2. What happens to Kazakh speech
Speech is recognised in 10 languages, Kazakh included. Mixed recordings are ordinary: Kazakh and Russian in one conversation are transcribed together, with nothing to switch by hand.
The real hazard in Kazakh clips is not recognition — it is the letters on screen. Nine of them — ә, ғ, қ, ң, ө, ұ, ү, һ, і — are missing from many fonts, and when they are missing they do not turn into boxes: they vanish, leaving a hole inside the word. Check this on your own clip. How to check — in a separate article.
On our side the font is chosen for the letters that end up in the frame, and coverage is verified by reading the font file itself.
Step 3. How many clips you get
An hour of recording yields 30–40 clips at the reference clip length. The number depends on the length you choose and on the recording itself: a lively interview yields more than a monotone lecture.
That is a guide, not a promise. We do not know in advance how many strong moments your recording holds, and naming an exact number before the cut would be a lie.
Step 4. How long it takes
An hour of recording is most often processed in 20 minutes. That figure is for an order without extra processing; audio cleanup and uploading your file add time, and with several orders in the queue they run one after another. There is no need to wait on the page: we send an email.
Step 5. What it costs
A clip costs from 50 ₸ on the “Agency” package up to 130 ₸ on the smallest one. You pay for minutes of recording, not per month: unused minutes do not expire at the end of a month.
The first video up to 20 minutes is free, with no card. It returns up to 5 clips — enough to judge the cut on your own material; the full batch comes with a paid order.
For Kazakhstani businesses we issue an invoice, an act and a VAT invoice; payment by Kaspi or bank transfer.
Step 6. What to do with the clips
Clips come out vertical with subtitles burned in — publishable as they are. If a fragment was chosen differently from what you had in mind, the clip is rebuilt: boundaries, styling and text can be adjusted, and you do not pay for that again.
What we do NOT promise
- that a clip will take off. Virality depends on the topic, the person on camera and the platform; a service promising views is promising someone else's work;
- that the AI picks exactly the moments you would have picked. It selects strong fragments by meaning — and it gets things wrong. That is what rebuilding is for;
- that Kazakh clipping works everywhere. It works here, and one frame of your own recording is enough to check that.
